Frequently asked questions
Here at Fairhaven Farm, our girls and our studs have to pass a series of genetic health clearances from their DNA, eyes, heart, to OFA certifications of Hips and Elbows to ensure they are clear of all genetic defects. We only use those who pass with flying colors to ensure their offspring are also the healthiest possible. Our dogs also visit the vet regularly for their vaccinations and health checks.
We work hard to provide our puppies to those who are serious about claiming a companion from Fairhaven Farm. Because we have many people asking about our puppies, a payment of a non-refundable deposit indicates to us that a potential buyer is serious and not just “window-shopping,” putting their names down on a waitlist or multiple waitlists without any intention of actually getting a puppy leaving that potential companion lacking a home when the time does come for them to leave us. Puppies are sold on a "first come, first serve" basis. A deposit on a puppy reserves you a spot on our waiting list for either a current or future puppy of your specification, if possible. Although your deposit is non-refundable, it is transferrable to another litter of current or future availability if we cannot provide to you what you need or if you are unable to take the puppy at the current time. Many of our litters are booked even before they are born which is why we strongly suggest that if you are interested in a puppy from Fairhaven Farm that you place a deposit. We will work diligently to have your puppy to you within 12 months. IF we are unable to produce a puppy for you within 12 months, you will be refunded (this will not include you as a purchaser not being able to take a puppy or not being able to pay for the puppy in full.)
Because our puppies are constantly with us, being socialized and playing on multiple platforms your puppy will already have a head start on potty training, crate training, stairs, and will be familiar with basic commands at 8 weeks old. If you are interested in further training in these areas, you can ask us about pricing and length of time.
Fairhaven Farm Labradors has a non-refundable policy once a puppy has been purchased. However, we will provide a new puppy in the case that there has been a failed medical examination of your puppy at your veterinarian office within the first 7 days of arriving at your home AND is confirmed with our veterinary office with documentation. Each of our puppies have been thoroughly examined by our own veterinarian at 7 weeks and will only be placed in a home if cleared. Because illnesses in dogs are contagious and found at such places as Rest Areas while traveling to their new homes, we will not replace a puppy due to illnesses not found here at Fairhaven Farm. We also understand there may be exceptions to this rule due to emergencies that happen and can communicate those exceptions if they arise.
Puppies can go home after they are 8 weeks old and NOT BEFORE. NO EXCEPTIONS! This ensures the best for your new puppy! They will visit the vet for their first set of vaccinations and a check up usually during week 7. 8 weeks gives the puppies ample time to get the nourishment from their mommas, learn to eat solid food and the training they need before they go to their new homes.
